Contemporary Photographic Art to Experience
Into Vision - 08 Migrainogenics

Headache? We have reached the end of our tour and are looking at a specific topic. There are many people who suffer from migraines and experience a visual phenomenon called an aura. This is an artefact in the visual centre of the brain that results from a disturbance in the concentration of certain substances (according to current knowledge) and is expressed in an excitation of the “pixels”. The excitation travels across the “pixels” and manifests itself as a coloured structure with acute-angled teeth on the outside.

The aura has inspired people to create works of art, including artists such as Vincent van Gogh and Giorgio de Chirico, as well as Hildegard von Bingen with her visions that suggest a migraine aura. Inspired by such works – and also as a migraine sufferer – I simply follow these people and invite others to do the same,

Please be careful! The sight of an image with structures similar to an aura can trigger a migraine attack in certain people.
If you feel uncomfortable, please look away immediately and leave the topic area if necessary.
